I just mixed up some henna to dye my hair tomorrow morning (I think, haha). I'm just wondering what color you guys think my hair would be after hennaing. I did a strand test which turned out really nice, but that was with different henna. I know it's hard to say, but all I want to know is that it's not going to turn bright orange like some Indian guys' beards lol
This is what my color is at the moment, my own color, kind of red/blondish:

Thanks in advance!

Your hair won't be old-indian-man-beard red, but it will be probably a deep orange....just picture putting cellophane the color of the your skin when the henna is first removed over your hair.

It may start out deep orange, but it will develop over time and darken with additional applications of henna (more red)

have you tried with jamila? it gets quite dark on hair... or you may wish to add some amla in the future applications..

I would love to have your hair color just to get some beautiful vibrant henna color on it!

This is the result, kind of Indian man's beard-orange but I really like it actually. Plus it still needs to oxidise:

Opinions welcome!

Beautiful! It will mellow in a couple of days to a really rich vibrant red without the orange tones.

It will definitely mellow after a few days and it will deepen with additional applications. I wouldn't call this old man's beard orange at all .... nowhere nears as bright as all that. Looks good

I think it's lovely! But then again I'd love to be ginger headed year round.

Wow, gorgeous and so perfect for your coloring. It is brighter than I expected it would be. It will mellow after a few days, and another application or two of henna will give you a darker shade. You could do two applications a couple of days apart if you want.

Usually I suggest to my clients who want maximum grey coverage to henna their hair several times over a month. If they have black or brown hair I suggest they do henna and indigo over all those layers of henna for really good coverage of greys.

At last, I have tried henna on my hair, i was afraid before that chemicals of henna would destroy my sensitive hair but when i tried it, it wasn't bad at all.

Not sure where you got your information, but henna is usually the savior of hair that has been overly damaged by chemicals.... henna isn't chemical in the colloquial sense. Yes, everything is made up of chemicals, but henna is a plant that, if used without additives, is about as natural and healthy as you can get. It brought my hair back from extreme damage in only one application... although, I am sure the amla oil I added helped too.

Maya, I wouldn't pay too much attention to such posts. They're just spammy posts (hence the signature link).

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I really like the color now that is has oxidised. It's not so fiery orange anymore.

Yeah, I usually spot 'em but for some reason, I didn't read this guy's signature and just responded to the info. Then I saw that they had posted under "off topic" with the leading question "What do you guys think of chiropractic?".... :sigh:
