Alright, so I've already mixed the henna for later on today, but I have a question about the indigo part.

Should I wait for the dye release of the indigo before putting it on my hair? Or should I put it immediately on my hair? I've seen different viewpoints on the internet, and I just wanted y'all's opinion on this. :]

I mix mine with hot hot hot water and let it stand no more than 5 minutes before applying. any remaining dye release will happen on your head. :)

I mix the henna and the indigo separately, with hot water. I usually let them both sit until the indigo turns dark blue, at which time I mix the henna and indigo together and apply.

Alright. Thank-you. :] I think I'll use HennaLounge's technique since I read somewhere that if you henna and indigo separately than you got a deeper black.

Oh yes, if you're shooting for black you definitely apply them separately. If you mix the two pastes together, you get brown. Imagine your hair is a wall, and you apply a henna primer, followed by the indigo paint color. :) If you mix your primer and paint together, well, it's just not the same.

haha. love the analogy, HennaLounge. :P also, how long should I let the indigo sit on my head? I read an hour somewhere for black hair.

I do 1-2 hours. If it's your first time, you might need to do a second coat of indigo. Then when you do your monthly maintenance, you can get by with one coat, one hour.

When I do the monthly maintenance of it, should I rehenna my hair and then reindigo it again? Or just indigo?

it depends on the original color of your hair and if you have grays. i have gray hairs, so i have to re-henna to get good coverage.

I have naturally a medium tone brown hair. What should I do for that?

Sounds like you'll have to do the two-step every month if you really want to keep it black. You may be able to get away with just doing the roots though. Indigo fades faster than henna. I guess I consider indigo to be semi-permanent, while henna is permanent (until it grows out).

Thank-you SO much! :] I hennigoed my hair yesterday morning, and I love it! It's refreshing to see such a dark color as my hair color. :] Thank-you for the help!

After!

Btw, the pictures don't do it justice, because it's really dark compared to my natural hair color. :]

Altogether, I pretty much LOVE my hair right now. :]
