A woman I work with knows that I do henna so she asked me if I knew anything about henna for hair because she doesn't want to use anything with PPD in it. She unleashed a torrent of information from me and she also realized that I henna my hair. She also didn't know that I sell henna and indigo. Anyway, I gave her the whole story and she was totally sold, bought 200g each of henna and indigo.
She has shoulder length dark brown hair with about 40% grey, most of it at her brow. Her hair is pretty coarse and curly; she said that she has to use product in it daily to keep it from frizzing.
I haven't seen her much at work lately (big firm, we're on different floors) but she came up to see me the other day to show me her hair. I was BLOWN away. Henndigoing her hair took at least 10 years off her face and her hair looks gorgeous. The color is a beautiful brown, her hair is shiny and best of all...she uses no product and her hair is smooth and silky, no frizz. She couldn't believe it either.
I was so happy to hear of her success because I have always had a hard time explaining henna to people with hair like hers. I know my hair, which is medium brown with about 5-10% grey, fine textured and lightly wavy. I know how it responds to henna, how the color changes and how the texture changes. When I advise people who have a different color, texture and amounts of grey I wonder how it will turn out. It's so hard to predict and yet I want to give them the assurance that it will look great. This client totally clarified things for me so I feel like I have more actual data to consider when I advise others. She said her family and friends all want to order henna now! Another of my colleagues bought henna from me a while ago and is going to henna this weekend. And someone else at work saw my other colleague and is now considering henna.
It's nice to have future clients but it's especially nice to see people realizing that henna can be their friend and make them younger and more beautiful! _________________ KENZI

what a great proof! you shoudl get some pics of her hair if you can!
I find my hair henna customers to be some of the best repeat shoppers. It really works and it's economical. And it really makes people happy who thought they would never be able to color their hair again.
I recently let my hairstylist put highlights in my hair, and now my hair feels dry and damaged while before with henna/indigo it was soft and silky. Such a world of difference. I'm wondering if I do a treatment of cassia if it will perk things back up.. just been too lazy though. _________________ http://www.hennalounge.com

That is a good point...they do become repeat customers because it's usually a necessity to color your hair (after a certain age) whereas it's not always a necessity to henna your skin. _________________ KENZI

Hi Jasika,
Welcome to the forums. Actually henna (lawsonia inermis) yields just one color (in varying intensities but still all within the same range of tones), but there are other herbs such as indigo and cassia. Most of the "hennas" that advertise multiple colors have metallic salts added to them, and these can be irritating to some people. _________________ http://www.hennalounge.com

Kenzi, do you have tips for hendigoing (great composite btw) hair?
My sister-in-law recently bought some henna and indigo (at my urging) and it didn't take to her hair at all. She's middle eastern and used to henna her hair when she was young, but since it started going grey, nothing seems to work. I suggested the addition of indigo would mask the orange of her greys post-henna, but it really hasn't and now her hair looks...odd.
She has about 40% grey, although she's still quite young, and has thick, curly hair. |

I find that indigo doesn't really do much to the hair and certainly doesn't last unless there is already a base of henna under it. I suggest hennaing the hair first and then doing indigo right after you wash the henna out, or henndigoing it right after. I also find that the color of the indigo doesn't fade as quickly if you don't shampoo your hair when you wash the henndigo (or indigo) out. I try to wait 24 hours before shampooing after henndigo.
BTW I didn't invent the word "henndigoing". I first hear it from Maya and I love it! _________________ KENZI
